What it means

When an event post says 'talent will need to provide sound production for this event,' it means the venue or planner is not supplying a PA system, sound engineer, or audio equipment. You are expected to bring your own setup.

Does this mean I need to hire a sound company?

Not necessarily. In most cases, this simply means you should bring the same setup you'd normally use for your performances — your own PA speakers, mixer, microphones, cables, etc. You don't need to hire a separate sound production company unless the event is very large or has specific technical requirements beyond your typical setup.

💡

Note: If you're ever unsure what a specific event requires, message the planner through the event page before submitting your offer. A quick question upfront saves confusion later.

What if an event says 'sound will be provided'?

If the event post says the venue or planner is providing sound, you can generally plan to plug into their system. It's still good practice to confirm the technical specs (input type, number of channels, monitor availability) before the event.
